Liebe Weltfrauen in Europa!

Dear worldwomen in Europe,

Today we would like to write you about the most important hot spots, which have arisen in Greece, the Ukraine, in the Middle East, in Rojava, Nepal and as a consequence of the refugee crisis as well as our preparation process of the World Women’s Conference and the special challenges for the women’s movement related with these hot spots.

In these countries women play an important role in the everyday struggle for democracy, for the people’s liberation, for the reconstruction of the country in Nepal and Rojava and against the fascist and extremely religious ISIS-forces in Syria and Northern Iraq.

The Greek people have sent a clear, courageous and militant signal against the Troika to the EU and world bank and there was enormous solidarity for the Greek people throughout Europe. Despite the immense media pressure against Greece, the people decided for a clear “No” against the enforced austerity measures. But now they shall pay the price and safe the banks nevertheless. We are really interested in how they will act and ensure our full support in fighting against the austerity measures in Europe.

Urgent Call to International Human Rights Organizations (English, Turkish, French, German)

KONGREYA JINÊN AZADkja_logo1

KJA

URGENT CALL

TO INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS, INSTITUTIONS, WOMEN ORGANISATIONS AND PRESS

The denial and destruction policies, human rights violations, arrests, evacuation of villages and unidentified murders applied on civilian Kurdish people by the Turkish State as a consequence of the escalation of the conflictual atmosphere between PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) and state forces in the early of 90s have caused deep wounds in society.  Upon the call of Kurdish People’s Leader Mr. Abdullah Öcalan in Newroz, on 21st March 2013, the society in Turkey has breathed easy and set great hopes on democratic solution and peace-building. However, with the process started with the rejection of the negotiations just after the general elections in Turkey on 7th June 2015; the insist on isolation implemented on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, bombing attacks, political and military operations, forest burnings, sexual violence against women and massacres against civil people are enhanced by the State violently.

What happens in Silopi district of Şırnak province in recent days is an obvious indicator of this. The block off Turkish government on the passage of the bodies of YPG and YPJ guerrillas, who lost their lives in the struggle against DAİŞ/ ISIS, from the Habur Border Gate (Turkey-Iraq Border Gate) and not delivering the bodies to families during 13 days have been seen by people as an attack to all the values of the society. This attitude which can’t be accepted by any international law or human dignity has caused a social indignation.

The Middle East revolution is led by women (English, German)

Interview with Ayse Gokkan, KJA (Free Women Congress) Diplomacy about women’s situation and struggle in Turkey, Kurdistan and Rojava ayse-gokkan

“The Middle East is not only consisting of men, Muslims and Arabs only –  the Middle East revolution is led by women

Erdoğan’s power is shaken by self-defense and self-organization of women

The European Coordinator, Monika Gartner-Engel sent four questions about the situation of women in the Kurdish liberation struggle and Turkey to the Middle East coordinator Özlem Yasak on 6 July. Here are the answers, Ayse Gokkan as representative for KJA (Free Women Congress) Diplomacy, was able to give on 30 July:

Question: By capturing Tell Abjad the fascist IS groups were cut from one important supply route, at the same time two Syrian Cantons were united. A huge success! How did the people in Rojava but also in Turkey and your organizations react to this success?  What is the women’s role in this progress in your point of view.

Grê Spî (Tell Abjad) has been taken after a heavy price paid for the last 40 years. Therefore you need to go down in history before responding to the questions. The nation state model has been imposed to the world as a democracy legacy. Nation states failed in the 21st century. Democratic (covering all the different identities and beliefs), ecological, women’s liberation have been arisen. The failure of the nation state is in the world’s agenda. The world cannot be conducted by the central administrations of the nation-states.

In Europe, the nation-states were built on male, Christian, European and white-male identity while all the other people and women were rejected. In Middle East, the nation states were built on male, Muslim and Arabic identity and they divided Middle East into 22 parts. When people upraised in Middle East for democracy, it was called as “Arab Spring”. However, there were dozens of different peoples and beliefs and again women who constitute the half of all people and society. The message that was given to hegemonic power was that: The Middle East is not only consisting of men, Muslims and Arabs only.
