Dear comrades,
We lost Sevda Çağdaş, delegate of the Middle Eastern Regional Conference for the 2nd World Women’s Conference in September 2014 in Diyarbakir, in the fight against ISIS in Menbic.
You may remember Sevda. She was of rather small height, had a smiling face and participated the conference as Kurdistan delegate of the Socialist Women’s Councils (SKM). She was reading the SKM report in front of you. She was also the translator for German during the conference. She was studying German Language and Literature at the Dicle University in Diyarbakir.
When we went together to the border of Kobane, she was one of our photographers. When the police stopped her because she was taking photographs and had no press card, our comrade from Lebanon immediately took out her own press card. 6 days after our Middle Eastern Regional Conference Sevda got seriously wounded during clashes in Diyarbakir. She was in treatment for long time. After her recovery she went to Kobane, to the Kurdish and Middle Eastern people’s war for freedom and justice, to a new life, to the homeland of the women’s revolution.
Weltfrauen trauern um Sevda Çağdaş
Das Mitglied der Mittleren-Osten-Regionalkonferenz zur 2. Weltfrauenkonferenz, Mukkades Erdoğdu Çelik, informierte die kämpferischen Weltfrauen 
schriftlich über den Tod ihrer Schwester: „Sevda Çağdaş fiel bei den Befreiungskämpfen um die Stadt Manbitsch, die die Demokratischen Kräfte Syriens (SDF) im Rahmen ihrer Offensive Richtung Rakka aktuell gegen den faschistischen IS führen. Sevda Çağdaş war Delegierte der Mittleren-Osten-Regionalkonferenz zur 2. Weltfrauenkonferenz, die im September 2014 in Diyarbakir stattgefunden hat. Sie war eine der Übersetzterin bei der Konferenz. Sie studierte Deutsche Sprache und Literatur. Außerdem war sie Mitglied des Socialist Women’s Councils (SKM).
Die Weltfrauenkonferenz hat eine ihrer Aktivistinnen verloren. Im Glauben, dass sich ihr Einsatz gelohnt hat und dass ihre Erinnerung lebendig bleiben wird, sende ich Euch all meine Liebe. …“
Monika Gärtner-Engel antwortete in einem Schreiben: „Wir sind sehr traurig. Sie starb im Kampf gegen den faschistischen IS. Junge Frauen wie sie sind es, die die Zukunft der Welt mit all ihrer Stärke und Courage aufbauen. Weltweit haben sie sich erhoben, um gegen Ausbeutung und Unterdrückung zu kämpfen. Sie war nicht alleine. Trotzdem hinterlässt ihr Tod eine tiefe Wunde bei all ihren Freunden, ihren Genossinnen und Genossen und ihrer Familie. Meine wärmsten Gedanken und Anteilnahme sind mit ihnen. Wir sind entschlossen, die Weltfrauen weiter und enger zusammenzuschließen.“

Profil – was ist die Namibische Rural Women’s Assembly?
Die Rural Women’s Assembly hat das Ziel, Verbindungen zwischen den Selbstorganisationen der Frauen auf dem Land aufzubauen und zu stärken. Und durch Kämpfe die Stimme und Sichtbarkeit der an den Rand gedrängten Frauen auf dem Land aufzubauen und für Alternativen zu mobilisieren und einzutreten, die die nachhaltige Souveränität über Lebensmittel und die Lebensgrundlage auf dem Land unterstützen und das einheimische Wissen, Lebensmittel und Saatgut zu fördern.
Vision der NRWA:
Eine strukturierte Wirtschaft auf dem Land und eine neue Darstellung der ländlichen Gegenden, in der jene, über die in der Geschichte verfügt und die unterdrückt wurden, Zugang zu Lebensunterhalt erhalten und und gleichberechtigten Anteil an den Ressourcen (Land und Gemeingut), wovon sie im allgemeinen ausgeschlossen werden, und wo Frauen und Männer auf dem Land in Harmonie und Frieden mit einander leben können (Menschheit und Natur).

Veranstaltung zur 2. Weltfrauenkonferenz mit Monika Gärtner-Engel
Am 25. Juni findet ab 18 Uhr (Einlass) in der Horster Mitte in Gelsenkirchen eine spannende Veranstaltung statt: Monika Gärtner-Engel, eine der Europakoordinatorinnen der Weltfrauenkonferenz, wird über die 2. Weltfrauenkonferenz der Basisfrauen (WFK), ihre Resolutionen, Teilnehmerinnen und ihre Ergebnisse umfassend berichten.
Diese Veranstaltung bekommt jetzt eine zusätzliche, aktuelle Bedeutung durch die Teilnahme von Vertreterinnen der HDP (Demokratische Partei der Völker) aus der Türkei, die sich derzeit auf einer Rundreise in Deutschland befinden und die Veranstaltung auch nutzen wollen, sich über die Ergebnisse der Weltfrauenkonferenz vor gut drei Monaten in Nepal zu informieren.

Declaration of Protest
To the President of the Kurdish Region in North Iraq
on the Repression against the Kurdish Women’s Office REPAK in Erbil
We are writing to you from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the MENA region as world coordinators of the 2nd World Women’s Conference of Grassroots Women. We are out-raged and strongly protest against the repression against the staff of the Kurdish Women’s Office (REPAK) and their office rooms on 5 June, 2016, which your government carries the responsibility for.
Without any legal basis, heavily armed security forces invaded the REPAK office, searched the rooms, confiscated identity papers and mobile phones of the staff, deported the women, threw them out and left them on the road between Erbil and Kirkuk.
We regard this attack on REPAK, on this organisation of the Kurdish liberation struggle and for the liberation of Kurdish women, as an attack on us as Worldwomen as well. The 2nd World Women’s Conference of Grassroots Women took place in March 2016 in Kathmandu/Nepal and 2000 women, representatives of the militant women’s movement from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America an the MENA region, participated in it. They again represent tens of thousands of women all over the world, who stand up for women’s rights, for freedom and democracy. Integral part of this movement is the solidarity with the struggle of the Kurdish women for liberation!
Meral Cicek and her fellow fighters are coordinators of the Worldwomen in the MENA region, they gave us Worldwomen deep insight and feeling for the Kurdish liberation struggle which has been going on for centuries and they contributed decisively to making the 2nd World Women’s Conference a success.
We will make this outrageous incident public everywhere!
We strongly demand the instantaneous handover of the identification papers, of the mobile phones, as well as of all confiscated objects from the office rooms!
We demand the immediate re-opening of the office and its work without any restriction!
We are convinced that this repression will not deter REPAK from continuing to work for the rights or the Kurdish people.
