Our Filippino friends informed the European worldwomen:
Last July 9, 2015, Liza Maza, chairperson of the International Women’s Alliance (IWA), and former Congresswoman, was on her way to travel to the United States. As she was about to board the airplane, she was stopped. She was not allowed to travel nor to enter the United States, even if she has a 10 year visa. She was not allowed by the Homeland Security of the United States.
European Coordinator Monika Gaertner-Engel immediately sent a letter of protest to the US Embassy and die Ambassador of the United States on the Philippines. IWA and the World Women’s Conference process cooperate closely and are interlinked. Here is the text of the protest letter:

To the US Embassy in the Philippines
To the Ambassador of the United States
Dear Sir or Madam!
We are outraged that Ms. Liza Maza was prevented from taking her flight to the US on 9 July 2015!
The order that she might not board the aircraft and the information that her luggage had already been unloaded came directly from the US Customs and Border Protection under the Department of Homeland Security.
Ms. Liza Maza owns a valid 10-year visa for the US.
Ms. Maza was not informed about the actual reason.
This obstruction clearly serves to intimidate her and to attempt to obstruct her in carrying out her work!
Liza Maza is an internationally renowned women’s activist. As chairman of the IWA (International Women’s Alliance), she stands for the liberation of women!
I met her at the 1st General Assembly of the IWA in Manila in 2011. She has already participated in various events of the women’s movement in Germany – recently in the 10th Women’s Political Counsel in Ludwigsburg September 2012 and in an huge event under the slogan „World Women march forward“ in Gelsenkirchen in April 2012.
Ms. Maza regularly participates in international conferences and events and is a specialist in the struggle against militarization in the Asian Pacific region, especially carried out by the imperialist US policies.
Most recently, she went to South Korea in her function or gave an radio interview in California. IWA also stands for the struggle to save the environment.
We do not accept this!
We express our protest!
We urge the Philippine state and the United States to let Lisa Maza enter the country.
For the liberation of women! For free political activity!
