Fighting for peace !
The rulers want war — we want a future!
Women and girls take to the streets — worldwide
Women and girls around the world are taking to the streets worldwide. They are militant and determined to fight together for a future of peace and freedom!
Those in power talk of a “turning point” and a “new world order,” but what they mean is rearmament, military readiness, and the militarization of society.
“…the roots of the oppression and exploitation of women lie in the capitalist or imperialist system…” (Final resolution of the 3rd World Women’s Conference of grassroots women 2022, Tunis).
Clara Zetkin, the founder of International Women’s Day, already demanded in 1911 in the resolution on International Women’s Day: “Women’s Day must have an international character… It should be a day of struggle for the liberation of women….”
The World Women’s Movement stated at its 2nd Theoretical Seminar in Nepal in 2025: “The strength of the women’s movement lies in its diversity. Fascist and imperialist forces benefit from divisions within the women’s movement.”
Our strength lies in international solidarity, coordination, and cooperation, which weakens our opponents. Reactionary politics worldwide threaten our hard-won rights and achievements, our right to self-determination, and seek to force a return to old, patriarchal gender roles. Women and girls are standing up against a relentless enemy of our liberation, against insatiable greed, double exploitation, racism, sexual exploitation, violence, postmodernism, opportunism, and anti-communism.
The ruling classes are still succeeding in stifling the struggles in bloodshed, as in Iran. They are still succeeding in making women and girls “invisible” and banishing them from social life, denying them education, as in Afghanistan.
But the call for freedom cannot be silenced. In the USA, a new anti-fascist, organized mass resistance has developed. World Women are actively involved in this. Millions of people worldwide are taking to the streets to protest against the genocide in Gaza, and World Women are among them. Women and men are actively protesting against the fascist attacks on Kurdish self-government in Rojava, and women around the world are at the forefront.
Worldwide, our lives are threatened by arms build-up, escalating wars, and the danger of nuclear world war, fascism, ultra-right-wing, reactionary, and fascist politics, and insatiable greed for profit that threatens the existence of humanity.
All over the world, the rich are getting richer and the powerful are becoming more ruthless and insatiable. Their despicable, misogynistic attitude is particularly evident in their schemes.
But the women of the world will not return to feudal patriarchal or fascist structures.
This year’s International Women’s Day must carry the call to the world:
Women of the world:
we need strong, non-partisan, anti-fascist, unbreakable alliances.
Let us join hands across national borders in a common international resistance and struggle—from Nepal to Togo, from Bangladesh to Botswana, from Istanbul to Delhi, from Madrid to Lima, from Berlin to Montevideo, from Sri Lanka to Kurdistan, from St. Petersburg to Brazil, from Paris to Western Sahara, from Montreal to Gaza, from Minneapolis to Reykjavik, from Oslo to Mexico…
Women and girls around the world are fighting for a dignified life, in peace, self-determination, and dignity.
Women of the world, unite and organize!
Raise your voices and join forces for a life without war, without fear of violence, without poverty, without hunger. Without racism and sexual exploitation of women and girls. For a safe, secure, and affordable home in self-chosen, respected partnerships, without discrimination and exclusion.
Strong women in strong alliances with the working class, with trade unions and progressive forces, with the youth movement, are unbeatable.
Our ultimate goal is a society free from oppression and exploitation of women.
“The struggle for women’s liberation must be international, organized, political, anti-imperialist/capitalist, and linked to the working class. Let us organize ourselves, let us unite in the common struggle for a society free from oppression and exploitation.” (Resolution of the 2nd Theoretical Seminar 2025 in Nepal)
Let us take up the challenge of our time and move forward as a force for social change!
Let us take to the streets together on March 8, organize rallies, strengthen our alliances, and make our voices heard in every city, every country, every workplace.
